Downtimes

Submissions

Each month a Form will be published on the Revenant’s End Discord for players to submit their downtimes. To keep workloads manageable for the GMs it is a requirement that players submit their downtimes via the provided form and adhere to the character limits within it. For late downtimes please see the section below “Default Actions”

Overview

It is assumed that characters are devoting an appropriate amount of time to their day to day profession. You do not need to use your action to run your business or practice your trade.

However you are able to spend your action doing so if you wish, this represents putting in extra effort and increases the result and reliability of your job that downtime.

By default each character receives one action per downtime. Some talents may give additional actions for specific purposes but most of these talents are not intended to stack. If in doubt please ask the GMs.

Income

Characters will earn an income of either resources or money depending on their specific profession. This is in addition to anything gained from taking specific actions.

Ie a Farmer will start sessions with cards representing their crops and a Courtesan with money they have earned from their clients.

Default Actions

Players will be asked to indicate a ‘default’ action for their characters. Life gets in the way and this allows us to balance preventing players from missing out and enforcing submission deadlines to reduce the burden on STs. If you do not submit a downtime before the deadline you will still receive the benefits of your default action.

Action Types

Expedition Actions

Expeditions discover and procure resources from the environment while potentially expanding knowledge of the landscape across the map. For safety and the effective retrieval of resources it is strongly recommended to travel as a group.

  • For organisation we ask that each expedition have a “leader” nominated. Any queries and decisions will be sent to that player to resolve. The leader will be responsible for:
  • Submitting the details of the expedition including where they are going and what they are looking for.
  • Telling us who is on the expedition
  • Gathering the overhead costs for the expedition in their player packet

Participating players simply need to nominate which expedition they are spending their action on.

Examples
Jenny is leading an expedition to frantically gather lumber before an oncoming storm. Their downtime might look as follows:
Hi GMs, I’m leading an expedition to Gravestone Woods with the goal of gathering lumber. Frank, Alice and Cory are coming with me. Please take the costs out of my packet.

Frank, Alice and Cory’s downtime would only need to be:
Hi GMs, I’m taking part in Jenny’s expedition this downtime. Thanks for being so cool and handsome.

Site Actions

Site actions make use of the locations found by expeditions or created by constructing buildings. This might be going to a Mine to secure additional resources or visiting a service building to deal with your Revelations. A list of Sites will be available on the Wiki.
Examples:

  • Going to a sawmill and producing additional lumber.
  • Delving greedily and deep in the mines
  • Praying at the church

Other Actions

The West is vast and the characters are diverse. This is a catch all for any action that doesn’t fall into the above.

Examples

  • Study ancient writings from before the Dusk
  • Follow another character or NPC to track their movements
  • Create items with the Sciencin’ or Workin’ skills
  • Perform Witchcraft
  • Dedicate extra time to your business or construction
