The Regions of Westeros
Westeros is one of the four continents of the known world. Currently the Westeros is ruled by the Targaryen Family (with the single exception being the lands north of The Wall). Westeros is divided into 9 political regions each managed by a single 'Great House'. Minor noble houses support the Great House, providing provisions, trade goods and importantly men and arms.

Below is a list of the ruling houses and their words and a brief description of the lands

The North:
House Stark: Winter is Coming
The north is cold and harsh, and at the farthest boundary is 'The Wall'

The Iron Islands:
House Greyjoy: We Do Not Sow
The Iron Islanders on the west side of Westeros are known as pirates and raiders, taking what they want

The Riverlands:
House Tully: Family, Duty, Honor
The rich river lands in the center of Westeros, once held by the Greyjoys

The Vale:
House Arryn: As High as Honor
A mountainous region on the east coast, only the Targaryen's with their Dragons managed to defeat the Lords of the Eyrie

The Westerlands:
House Lannister: Hear Me Roar
Mines of gold and silver populate this small region of Westeros, Lannisport is also a key trading city

The Crownlands:
House Targaryen: Fire and Blood
The home of the capital, Kings Landing, and the Iron Throne upon which the Kings of Westeros sit

The Stormlands:
House Baratheon: Ours is the Fury
The Stormlands are dominated by mountains and forests, the lands are not as fertile as many other places in Westeros.

Dorne:
House Martell: Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
Desert lands to the South of Westeros which were never directly conquered by the Targaryens

The Reach
House Tyrell: Growing Strong
The lands along the South East; fertile and rich this area was once ruled by House Gardner
