The Federated Territories of Arc are blessed by divinity. Though the Gods do not speak directly to mortals, their essence infuses all things throughout these lands; and if you know how to correctly petition them, they may provide their aid and power. There are always those who work to interpret their desires, to explain the Divinities to the average layperson. Those people will often tell you that the places where you call on Divinities may shape who answers the call.
Introducing the Gods
The Gods of the Wild Places show their power in elemental forces and untamed things. They may appear as capricious as the winds, or as implacable as a mountain. Yet the Craft of Witches holds many hard-earned wisdoms on the appropriate sacrifices to make to these Gods to seek their intervention, or borrow a fraction of their power for a moment.
Witches cultivate their belonging in small towns, wilderness – anywhere that they can listen, free of noise. As a result, witches don’t tend to advertise or evangelise widely to crowds. But in this world, even the most uptight city-dweller knows at least one title of the Gods of the Wild Places, no matter how separate they pretend to be. After all, how could you not know the name of the Moon?

In the light of a warm hearth & the solidity of a laid road will you find the attention of the Gods of the Civilised Lands. Their touch is often more subtle to the eyes of mortals, and their presence steady. Those who Preach the good word of these divinities use their borrowed power to ease the minds & bolster the capabilities of their flock, taking those burdens onto themselves.

The words of Preachin' Commonly used across the Federated Territories of Arc can be found in the Preachers Book
There are certainly more forms of Divinity than these - but since the cataclysmic events of The Dusk a millenia ago, some Gods no longer answer. Whether this is because the knowledge of how to correctly request their aid has been lost, or that the shifting tides of the world have closed off the old channels, is a matter hotly debated amongst theological scholars. Regardless, it is not wise to petition a God without knowing the correct forms - when their displeasure takes the form of disaster, silence can be a blessing of its own.
Finally it should be noted that there are those that claim that there is power to be found outside of the divine. While there can be little doubt that The Devil waits with gleaming deals and binding contracts for any foolish enough to sign their name, this is not something that should be sought. The affairs of The Devil - nor those of anything stranger yet - are not wise to Meddle in.
The Rise of Humanis
Note: Dedicated worship within the Church of Humanis is not available to PCs at character creation.
Humanis is considered by many academics to be the deity who stood by man in the darkest times of the Dusk; when both devotions to the Civilised Gods and sacrifice to the Wild Gods failed more often than not. This was the time when we lost our knowledge of their names, but it is written that we always remembered Humanis. They are usually known and called upon as the God of Man Ascendant, while their old and ancient names are only hinted at within the post-Dusk writings.
Of all the Gods of the Civilised Lands there is no church or faith more deeply embedded in governance or more influential politically than the Church of Humanis.
In recent years, the older preachers have begun to see changes in how preachers are calling on Humanis. As the leaders of Arc made the decision to end the Schism and unite the States in harmony, their goal was supported by a small but influential set of Arcadian preachers. This group heard words of unity from Arc’s leadership and called upon Humanis to give their blessing.
Many of those preachers are now naming themselves to be of Humanis. They regularly give thanks to the successful intervention at the Battle of Ballagàrraidh by Arc’s forces. It has become their primary festival day, where there are joyful expressions recalling the cessation of conflict. It is followed up by a solemn reenactment of the signing of the peace accords some 5 days later. They honour the outcome of peace and unity and tell its remarkable story to advance Humanis in the hearts of the Arcadian population.
All who follow the Civilised paths will have called upon Humanis, however this god has become particular lately, seemingly to only intercede for Preachers who are devoted to them specifically. This act of praising one above all others is an unusual occurrence within Arcadia where polytheism is the norm. Many Preachers worry that this rising veneration may lead to the other deities turning their faces from humanity. Traditionally Preachers devoted to Humanis have not left the main population centres with their appearance on the fringes of the territories being a rare and concerning sign.
